What is Hearing Loss?

  • Aging – Natural wear and tear on your hearing over time.
  • Noise Exposure – Loud workplaces, concerts, or machinery.
  • Medical Conditions – Diabetes, heart disease, or infections.
  • Ear Blockages – Earwax buildup, fluid, or ear infections.
  • One in six Australians experience hearing loss (Hearing Australia, 2023).
  • By 2050, this number is expected to double due to aging and noise exposure.

Most people wait seven or more years before seeking help (Center for Hearing & Communication, 2021). Many don’t realise their hearing is gradually declining, but early action can prevent further loss and improve their quality of life.

Why Early Treatment Matters

Hearing loss doesn’t just affect your ears, it affects your whole life.

The Good News: is that with proper treatment, you can regain confidence and stay engaged in life.

What is an Audiogram?

An audiogram is a graph that shows how well you hear different sound frequencies. It helps identify the softest sounds you can detect across low to high frequencies.

  • The X-axis represents pitch (low to high frequencies).
  • The Y-axis represents volume (soft to loud sounds).
  • The results determine if you have hearing loss, its severity, and which frequencies are most affected.
